WHAT DOES
HLA
STAND FOR?

"Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all." -Aristotle

Heritage Leadership Academy fosters an environment where all students can love and serve Christ.  We help them tap into their greatness and use it to positively impact their communities. Our team is called to minister to families, and are committed to making this world a better place... one family at a time.

OUR
MISSION

Heritage Leadership Academy engages the whole child: hands, heart and head; awakens the leader in every student; and empowers learners to find and articulately express their voice to provoke change for the good. We also promote high-levels of academic achievement utilizing a rigorous, standards-based, interdisciplinary curriculum that is infused with the arts.

We are committed to students becoming independent thinkers, active problem-solvers, inquisitive readers, diligent researchers, prolific writers and articulate speakers. To ensure every student reaches these goals, we provide a student-centered program that promotes academic excellence through enriched, rigorous inter-disciplinary curricula. The Illinois Learning Standards and Common Core are embedded in the foundation of our curriculum.

By integrating meaningful technology into innovative classroom settings, our students engage in a blended learning format that individualizes student achievement. In essence, students constantly learn at their personal level of readiness. â€‹Additionally, students take grades Kindergarten through 8th Grade take the NWEA (Map) to monitor progress throughout the school year.

LEADERSHIP

Heritage believes our Leaders are being positioned to lead today. As such, HLA maintains high expectations and help Leaders hone skills to lead effectively. We support this belief with 1 Timothy 4:12 (NIV), "Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity."

EMPATHY

Heritage believes our school is poised to be the hands and feet of Jesus; hence, HLA is committed to improving the lives of others through meaningful service. We support this belief with Matthew 25:40 (NIV), "The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."

ACCOUNTABILITY

Heritage believes in fostering an environment where all parties are held accountable; taking responsibility is key. We support this belief with  Proverbs 28:13 (NIV), "Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy."

DEMONSTRATION

Heritage believes that a thriving school community demonstrates,  not just learns. respect, integrity, servitude and Godly reverence. We support this belief with James 1:22-24 (NIV), "But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was."
